Hospital of St Cross, Rugby

The Hospital of St Cross is situated in the heart of the market town of Rugby and is approximately 12 miles from Coventry and is part of UHCW NHS Trust.  The hospital has 4 in patient wards (110 beds), day surgery (22 beds), 5 operating theatres, an urgent care centre, out patients and various other ambulatory care services.

The team at Rugby are proud to work in a friendly, supportive environment delivering excellent patient focussed care. 

Mulberry and Oak Wards (44 beds) deliver rehabilitation from a multi disciplinary team to elderly patients from both Coventry and Rugby.

Hoskyn Ward (25 beds) cares for Rugby residents who have been repatriated from University Hospital for ongoing care prior to discharge.

Cedar Ward (41 beds) is a fast paced surgical ward caring for elective patients mainly from orthopaedic and neurosurgical specialties.  The ward is in the process of opening an additional 6 beds to support the increased elective activity through the 5 theatres on site.  Cedar Ward is highly recognised for the enhanced recovery programme for patients having hip and knee arthroplasty.

Day surgery (22 beds) is a 7 day service for a variety of specialties including orthopaedics, general surgery, opthalmology and ENT.

Rugby Urgent Care Centre is a nurse led service for self presenting patients with minor injuries and illnesses delivered by highly qualified Emergency Nurse Practitioners.

The hospital has a friendly and supportive culture where staff are encouraged to train and develop to promote the delivery of a high standard of care and patient experience.  There is a team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners who support the nursing teams on the wards with practical training and patient care.

As part of UHCW NHS Trust the staff at Rugby are able to access all the training opportunities across the Trust to ensure they remain updated and knowledgeable. All nurses joining our teams are welcomed and well supported to ensure the care we deliver is always of the highest standard over the whole site.
