Hospital of St Cross, Rugby

The Hospital of St Cross is situated in the heart of the market town of Rugby and is approximately 12 miles from Coventry and is part of UHCW NHS Trust. The hospital has 4 in patient wards, day surgery, 5 operating theatres, an urgent care centre, outpatients department and various other ambulatory care services. At the Hospital of St Cross we take pride in delivering high standards of care for our patients.

Mulberry and Oak Wards (44 beds) deliver rehabilitation from a multi disciplinary team to elderly patients from both Coventry and Rugby.

Hoskyn Ward (25 beds) cares for Rugby residents who have been repatriated from University Hospital for ongoing care prior to discharge.

Cedar Ward (41 beds) is a fast paced surgical ward caring for elective patients mainly from orthopaedic and neurosurgical specialties.  The ward is in the process of opening an additional 6 beds to support the increased elective activity through the 5 theatres on site.  Cedar Ward is highly recognised for the enhanced recovery programme for patients having hip and knee arthroplasty.

Day surgery (22 beds) is a 7 day service for a variety of specialties including orthopaedics, general surgery, opthalmology and ENT.

Rugby Urgent Care Centre is a nurse led service for self presenting patients with minor injuries and illnesses delivered by highly qualified Emergency Nurse Practitioners.

The hospital has a friendly and supportive culture where staff are encouraged to train and develop to promote the delivery of a high standard of care and patient experience. We deliver in house training from various specialist nurses including dementia and diabetes.  The Advanced Nurse Practitioners support nursing practice across the wards. We are dedicated to developing the nursing teams and through the annual PDR process we facilitate access to relevant training courses and preceptorship for newly qualified nursing staff.
