We offer comprehensive development to all our staff and by joining our team you will be provided with a preceptorship package and preceptor if required and be encouraged and guided in your development as an individual by senior staff.

We have a comprehensive competency package to help guide you through your preceptorship year and beyond through to becoming a senior staff nurse by year two.

For experienced nurses we can offer a transitional training programme and we also offer an in house nursing older adults programme.

The Gerontology team is committed to ensuring patients receive holistic and individualised care to meet all their care needs.

We are dedicated to ensuring that the needs, dignity and respect of our patients are always maintained and that we support our patients in maintaining their independence and choice

We provide quality, evidence-based care delivered by enthusiastic, educated and competent nurses, working as a team to respect each other as well as our patients, their families and their careers.

We currently have 3 acute complex gerontology wards providing 108 beds. We are developing an acute frailty unit in the near future.

We have a dedicated team of nurses who work closely with therapists, integrated discharge teams, palliative care teams and community Services.  Senior support roles include:

Modern Matron

Advanced Nurse Practitioners

Clinical Nurse Specialists in Older Adults and Dementia

Clinical Education Lead (Gerontology)

Ward Managers

Clinical Sisters

Practice Facilitators
