Gerontology

Gerontology is a speciality service with 108 beds split between 3 wards including an acute frailty unit. We work as a multidisciplinary team with therapists, integrated discharge teams, palliative care teams and community services. Our services include short stay pathways, complex gerontology and nursing older people with multiple co-morbidities

We offer comprehensive development to all our staff. By joining our team as a newly qualified nurse you will be provided with a preceptorship package guided in your development by senior staff. For experienced nurses we can offer a transitional training programme and we also offer an in house nursing older adults programme.

The Gerontology team is committed to ensuring patients receive holistic and individualised care to meet all their care needs. We are dedicated to ensuring that the dignity and respect of our patients is always maintained and that we support our patients in maintaining their independence and choice

We provide quality, evidence-based care delivered by enthusiastic, educated and competent nurses, working as a team to respect each other as well as our patients, their families and their careers.
