Return to Nursing Practice

What do we offer at UHCW

At UHCW in collaboration with Coventry University we support nurses who would like to Return to Practice as a Registered Nurse, regardless of how long you have been out of practice.

To be eligible for a Return to Practice programme your registration must have lapsed with the NMC.

The programme consists of a 10 week theoretical component at Coventry University followed by a minimum of 100 hours on placement in a clinical setting, during which time you will complete a set of competencies, supported by a clinical mentor.  It provides an excellent opportunity for you to develop your confidence, whilst updating skills and knowledge.

If you’re looking to complete a return to practice course, you can now expect

  • Course fees to be paid
  • Additional financial support towards travel, childcare and book costs etc.

UHCW is a Practice Facilitator who co-ordinates the clinical placements and in addition to your clinical mentor will provide you with support, education and opportunities for reflection, as well as support with career planning.  The programme can be completed in as little as 6 months.

Upon successful completion you will be able to apply for a post as a registered nurse at UHCW and will be able to undertake the preceptorship programme and have the support of a preceptor.
