Return to Nursing Practice

Together with Coventry University we support nurses who have a lapsed NMC registration and want to return to the nursing profession, regardless of how long you have been out of practice.

The programme consists of a 10 week theoretical component at Coventry University followed by a minimum of 100 hours on placement in a clinical setting, during which time you will complete a set of competencies, supported by a clinical mentor.

If you’re looking to complete a return to practice course, you can now expect

  • Course fees to be paid
  • Additional financial support towards travel, childcare and book costs etc.

We have a dedicated Practice Facilitator who co-ordinates the clinical placements and in addition to your clinical mentor will provide you with support, education and opportunities for reflection, as well as support with career planning. The programme can be completed in as little as 6 months.

Upon successful completion of the course you will be able to apply for a post as a registered nurse at UHCW and will be able to undertake the preceptorship programme with the support of a preceptor.
