Health Care Assistants

Healthcare Assistant (HCAs) undertake a crucial role within a multidisciplinary team.  HCAs support trained staff across a range of duties to ensure the delivery of a high standard of nursing care for patients.

Being an HCA will provide you with opportunities to develop lifelong skills within the nursing profession and enhance your own personal development.

Training and Development

  • All HCA’s undergo a compulsory 6-day Effective Care Practices course
  • This course is designed to prepare a HCA to undertake their role within the multidisciplinary team.
  • The course involves both theory and practical sessions.
  • After finishing the 6 day course, HCA’s are given a set of competencies to complete in a 6 month period within the clinical area.
