About the Trust

We run University Hospital, Coventry and the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby, and maintain a strong focus on providing high-quality, safe and effective patient care. We have a national and international reputation for providing both emergency and elective care and specialise in cardiology, neurosurgery, stroke, joint replacements, in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and maternal health, diabetes and kidney transplants.

We are also a designated major trauma centre with helipad and a regional specialist cancer centre. University Hospital in Coventry was opened in 2006 costing £440 million and was built under a private finance initiative (PFI). This PFI contract also includes a full technology refresh meaning the Trust continues to have the most up to date equipment available.

We employ more than 8,000 staff and deliver acute healthcare to the population of Coventry and Rugby as well as more specialist services to this population and regionally. Clinical care is delivered by 16 Clinical Groups that are led by a triumvirate comprising a Clinical Director, Modern Matron/Midwife and a Group Manager.

As part of our commitment to our staff we also provide a range of programmes to help develop world class leaders and flexi-working to support a positive work-life balance.

Nurses at University Hospital, Coventry, and the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby, have contributed to a prestigious new manual for trainee and practising nurses.
