Newly Qualified Radiographers

As a newly-qualified radiographer, you will receive support and mentorship to guide you through your first 12 months in practice. This will include an 8-week induction programme to familiarise you with our equipment and ways of working and allow you to complete your mandatory training. After induction, you will continue to receive support in all areas of the rotation.

Our Band 5 radiographer rotation includes CT, fluoroscopy and interventional radiography.  Our workload includes GP and inpatient referrals, specialist orthopaedic and dental radiography, as well as general orthopaedic and neurosurgical theatres. You will also work in our busy emergency department, gaining experience in major trauma.

Opportunities are also available to undertake mentor and assessor training, red dot courses, gain specialist Cone Beam CT dental experience, or to become a cascade trainer for our brand new equipment.  Many radiographers choose to join our paediatric and forensic specialist groups and to support international research and training in the renowned West Midlands Surgical Training Centre.

Nurses at University Hospital, Coventry, and the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby, have contributed to a prestigious new manual for trainee and practising nurses.
